Phil
Harriau

with people’s thoughts and motivations.”
Phil started his marketing
career in the industrial components industry
as a mechanical engineer, where his education
and work experience honed his quantitative
skills.
While attending school for
his MBA, Phil developed a passion for figuring
out
how customers think and what they do in the
context of marketing. This led him to The
Caney Group in 1994, where he signed on as
research manager.
In 2000, Phil purchased
the company and took over as president. Drawing
from his engineering roots, Phil’s
vision for the company is to expand its position
as a resource for New Product Development
initiatives. This vision has propelled the
company into several new areas including contextual
interviewing, ethnography and
Word
for Word™ videography.
In addition
to his 20 years of business experience, Phil’s
formal education includes an engineering
degree from Clarkson University and an MBA
from the University of Bridgeport. He is
also a RIVA-trained moderator who has completed
hundreds of qualitative focus group sessions
and interviews on a broad range of subjects.

Laura
Clark

“It’s
all in the details.”
Laura Clark joined The
Caney Group in April 1996, bringing with
her years of experience, including ownership/management
within the food service industry and industrial
production management.
Laura’s varied
work experience and education make her
a particularly valuable asset of The Caney
Group. Her training in photography and
visual arts are particularly useful for
her involvement with Word for Word videotaping
and editing. Prior experience in a production
environment honed her skills for organizing
and prioritizing work flow in her project
management responsibilities.
Due in part
to her diverse background, Laura excels
in both the technical and creative aspects
of her position. While pursuing art, computer
information systems, psychology and sociology,
she soon discovered that marketing encompassed
all of these subjects. She earned her bachelor’s
degree from Suffolk University with a major
in marketing and a minor in communications,
and then pursued an MBA from the University
of Bridgeport.
